I’m so happy to bring you another post today on behalf of Quaker® Oats! But I’ll be honest; February is the time of the year when my goals and resolutions get a little challenging to maintain. I usually rely on the same foods every day to keep it easy to track my calories, so inevitably I get bored. Sometimes my routine needs to be shaken up a little to get me pumped and motivated to stay on track…especially in the mornings. If I start my day off right, then I tend to stay on track through lunch and dinner, too.
I thought maybe some of my readers might have the same challenges, so I wanted to share some tips and ideas with you today that will help you get that "first day" feeling back again. We’re always super psyched on the first day of our lifestyle commitment, aren’t we? I want to keep that momentum going even many, many days/weeks/months later.
Lately, I’ve incorporated some of the Quaker Warm & Crunchy Granola to my morning breakfast repertoire. It comes in tasty flavors such as cranberry almond or apple cinnamon.
My favorite is the apple cinnamon because it reminds me of an apple pie. There are slivers of apple, and it’s crunchy, sweet, and warm.
So while I love my Greek yogurt, oatmeal, and egg whites with turkey bacon, this is a new way to start my day on the right foot. Besides enjoying Quaker Warm & Crunchy Granola in the morning at my desk at work (where I can whip this up in under 1 minute), I also enjoy it as an evening treat while I meal plan for the week as you can see in the photo above.
Here are some other things I am currently doing to keep things fresh so I can stay on track:
-Switching up my workouts: I’ve been doing the same workout DVD’s, so I looked on Netflix to see what else was new. It cost me no money, but it made me excited to exercise again.
-Flavored waters: I usually flavor my water with lime or lemon, but now I’m branching out and trying cucumber lime or orange lemon infusions to get me to keep drinking that H2O!
-New recipes: Each week I am trying a new recipe so I don’t get bored with any of my meals. It’s also fun to try to create meals using what I already have in my pantry; it’s a great way to be resourceful and challenge myself in the kitchen.
Since I’ve started making these small, sensible lifestyle changes, I’ve felt energized, positive, and inspired to keep moving forward every day. I can honestly say I don’t feel bored or blah about making sensible choices.
Fortunately, Quaker makes so many tasty products (like their Warm & Crunchy Granola) that help me eat well and are affordable for my entire family.
What sorts of things do you do to stay on track when your motivation is waning? I’d love to hear your tips/ideas!
