Fab Fridays: Be a Gold (Décor) Digger

Sharing is caring!

I think gold decor has gotten a bad rep, and I totally get why. It can look very 1986, but it also can look very 2014 and oh-so-chic. My fave gold finds and décor uses/ideas tend to feature a more matte finish rather than the flashy, tacky, shiny gold.

So, for today’s top 5-esque post, I bring you 5 tasteful, cheap, and chic ways and ideas to bring gold/brass into your home in a non-committal kind of way.

1.) Hardware: I think gold hardware instantly makes a furniture item look more vintage, high-end, and kind of custom.

2.) A bar cart: A bar cart is so chic that it totally implies “family heirloom” or “I scored this at an estate sale!” However, nowadays, you can find bar carts almost anywhere, and this one from Target is amazing. I have this bar cart, and I love it (although the photo below isn’t mine):

3.) Textiles are an instant way to glam up a space with a dash of sparkle. Pillow covers are such an easy and inexpensive way to bring in current trends that don’t break the bank.

4.) Wall art is something I should do more of (as I talked about last week in my gallery wall post), and these champagne/gold gilt frames totally inspire me to get to work. Although these are an investment, finding inexpensive frames + some Design Master Brilliant Gold spray paint = the look for less.

5.) Table Top Accessories… I cannot for the life of me find inexpensive gold forks/knives, but if you can, BUY them! This set below from West Elm is $29 a place setting, but I think it’s totally worth the investment. So beautiful, and if nothing else, these place settings are stunning during the holiday season.

Hopefully these ideas help you look at brass/gold in a 2014 way rather than a 1980’s kind of way.

Do you have any brass/gold décor in your home?
