Happy Friday, everyone! Today is my husband’s birthday, AND it’s the day I get to share my home with all of you lovely people thanks to my friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life.
If you’re here from Splendor Styling, welcome! Mariella and I seem to share a love of black, white and gold, as evidenced by her office and chic, glam style.
My house is a bit of a DIY mess right now, so this will be a series of new and old photos. Working 10 hour days in the summer at my full-time job leaves me with few hours to snap pics in perfect lighting.
Let’s start in the living room. Cheers!
// LIVING ROOM //
This room is the one I am currently working on replacing items piece by piece. I will be purchasing a new coffee table and console table really soon (I hope!) Recently, we tiled over the brick fireplace and built a custom mantle. I really love how it all turned out.
Our mantle decor is very simple. I’m trying to transition to a more understated kind of decor style because I hate clutter. The art print was a clearance find at At Home for $15, and the brass candlesticks were a Hobby Lobby clearance find at $6 for the pair.
Also in the living room is our bar cart, which I love decorating. A piece of artwork from Minted hangs over it (and came crashing down and broke soon thereafter… darn Command strips did NOT hold up well).
The floral hand towels were a lucky buy at Ross for $3 each. The colors are so pretty and the quilted texture makes them practical for a bar cart.
On the sofa I have some fluffy pillows adorned with some damask pillow covers from Pottery Barn that I snagged on clearance.
My black backed built-ins received a little shuffle around of accessories to spice it up a bit. I love how the black background (see how I did it here) makes the accessories really POP.
And I splurged on this malachite tray from HomeGoods a few weeks ago. I just couldn’t leave the store without it and think it’ll look great on my new coffee table.
And finally, my end table that I love SO much.
// GUEST BEDROOM //
The guest bedroom got a new chair, console, and nightstand to complete the boutique chic vibe I wanted in here.
// MASTER BEDROOM //
The master bedroom got somewhat completely finished since I finally did something about a huge corner that basically used to be a dumping ground for laundry baskets and shoes. Now it’s a bright, useful space.
// OFFICE //
Using the leftover tricorn black paint from the master bedroom makeover, I painted my office wall black. It was a dark gray already, so I just went for it.
I also gave my IKEA VITTSJO shelving units a bit of an upgrade with contact paper.
Technology is a necessary evil in a blogger’s home office, but I am glad my desk has built-in power so I can keep most things tidy and charged easily.
I also painted the ugly hollow core doors a gorgeous coral color (full DIY tutorial here) and installed a new closet system (read about that here) to hold all my craft supplies. I’m in heaven being so organized.
I’ll have more office pictures once my new rug comes in next week. I can’t to show you all!
// OUTDOOR LIVING //
We were fortunate enough to get some new patio furniture (read about that DIY makeover here), so it’s been great having a place to unwind after work. This whole set-up (furniture, accessories, etc.) was about $700. A TOTAL steal at Big Lots.
And that’s the end of the tour. My kitchen and dining room are currently holding places for garage sale stuff, but I will have updates on both of those in time for fall home tours in September.
I’m now handing you all off to Vel at Life & Home @ 2102! There’s been fabulous tours all week, so click any of the links below to see more home decor eye candy!
