I want to thank you all so much for all the love on my big announcement last week! Reading all the kind messages and comments made me feel so happy. I’ll have more details about a launch date and all of that super soon!
Today I’m switching gears a bit to highlight a product we love and have had in our home since July 2018– that product is the Onelink Safe & Sound. I first wrote about the Onelink Safe & Sound installation last year and we use it almost on a daily basis for the Alexa features for music, reminders, timers, etc. Thankfully, we haven’t had to test out the smoke alarm function, and we plan to keep it that way!

Onelink Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm
We’re partnering up with Onelink again to add an additional Onelink Safe & Sound for our guest bedroom, as well as adding a Onelink Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
Carbon monoxide is something that has been weighing heavy on my mind and heart after hearing about the dangers of it should it go undetected, so I’m at peace knowing that now we have a way to monitor it no matter where we are using the Onelink Home app and our various automations/integrations using IFTTT.

Onelink by First Alert has hardwired and battery options for any home– we have the hardwired version since our newer construction home has hardwired alarms.
We opted to install the carbon monoxide and smoke alarm right outside our master bedroom.
We will instantly get push notifications on our phones alerting us of the TYPE of danger and which room triggered the alarm.
Features such as these are why we will continue to stick with Onelink by First Alert products for our smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detecting needs. While the safety features are the top priority, you can’t overlook the smart home aspects of it that allow you to monitor your home anytime, anywhere.
Onelink Safe & Sound for a Bedroom
When choosing which room to install our new Onelink Safe & Sound, we opted for the guest bedroom for various reasons: it gives guests access to Pandora, Spotify and Alexa. The sound is really phenomenal with the integrated premium speaker.
Plus, the light color can be customized for both color AND brightness, so it’s a great nightlight. I personally have an affinity for the pink hue.

Guests having access to Alexa can listen to music, lock the doors, disarm the security alarm if they need to let their dog out in the middle of the night, etc. and we like to give guests that flexibility. We include a list of simple voice commands in a fun art print so guests are aware of how to use the features.
We also love that in case of emergency, they will be aware of what is happening. Each of the alarms features voice alerts, which in case of an emergency, announce the specific room in which there is danger and syncs that information across all Onelink by First Alert devices.
All of the Onelink by First Alert products are very sleek, modern and blend right in to any home decor style.

Onelink by First Alert Installation
Installing both of the alarms is very similar, and each took less than 10 minutes from start to finish. The Onelink Home app is very helpful for guiding you through each step, but here’s a quick tutorial for hardwired connections such as ours.

Step One: Remove existing smoke alarm by gently removing the alarm housing and disconnecting the wire from the back. Remove the attachment plate from the ceiling using a handheld screwdriver.

Step Two: Attach the included ceiling plate attachment for whichever Onelink by First Alert alarm you’re installing using a handheld screwdriver and the included screws. Connect the alarm to the wire and gently rotate into place onto the ceiling plate.

It truly is that simple! If I didn’t have to take photos to show you all the process, I am confident I could do this myself.
If your current hardwired smoke alarm system is not by First Alert, additional wire adapters are included to make installation a breeze.
Once it’s attached and powered on, you’ll hear a lovely greeting, see a flashing light and can wrap up the installation process in the Onelink Home app. If you end up with multiple units like we have, you can name each one by room and easily manage your entire household.

With all this beauty in the room that’s another perfect compliment. I see they’ve really given smoke alarms some swank appeal… kudos and great post to advertise their product…makes me really want one!
