When you hear the words “modern farmhouse” you likely do not think of my blog, but that being said, I do have a special place in my heart for the all-white bedding and lived in/everyday luxe vibe prominent in modern farmhouse bedrooms.
White paired with navy is my jam lately, and I love a good metallic to shake things up, so I gave our master bedroom a mini-facelift with my take on modern farmhouse décor.
The Better Homes and Gardens line, available exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com, has a large, stylish and affordable line-up of bedding options. We were in desperate need of a new comforter—our old one was flat, not very soft/cozy and was pilling after five years of use. I ended up buying us the Better Homes and Gardens Down Fusion Comforter in a king size, and it is divine.
The comforter reminds me of one you’d find at a high end hotel—fluffy, warm, the right weight (not too heavy, not too light), damask stripe pattern, and soft on the skin. I’ll likely find a duvet cover to help preserve the life of this comforter, but it’s a home run. Pee Wee would spend all his time on it if I’d let him, see?
To bring some color and texture into the space, I added a small plush navy throw blanket. We have these all over the house because my feet always get cold, plus Pee Wee loves to burrow in them, and at only $7.05 they’re a bargain. The navy is bold and the print is a nod to my love of damask/filigree prints, which to me is also a classic farmhouse staple.
I’m a self-professed throw pillow addict, so when I saw this gold and faux suede pillow, I instantly added it to the cart. Gold is my signature color in all my spaces in recent years, and personally I feel a metallic adds a bit of glam to any color palette.
And finally, our large sliding patio doors got new curtains after living with the previous ones for three and a half years! I spent a lot of time choosing new curtains because in our bedroom it’s essentially a wall of curtains.
I chose the Better Homes and Gardens Persian Damask curtains, and I love them so much. They do a wonderful job of keeping light out at night, but in the daytime, they look spectacular. The back tab feature allows for a classy pleated look.
I keep the curtains open most of the day, and the natural daylight brings out the rich blue hues in these curtains. The material is a faux silk and a quick steam made these curtains look luxe and expensive—they hang beautifully and are under $20 a panel for 95” curtains.
I was concerned that adding in navy wouldn’t jive with my black and greige walls, but I love the overall look and warmth this space has. It’s a space I love to lounge in on Sunday mornings with Daniel and Pee Wee while I try to convince them we should go get breakfast tacos.
It’ll also be a space where we watch TV for the next couple of weeks since we are ripping out the carpet in the living room to put in laminate hardwood-look flooring. I am so excited! I’ll talk to you all more about that after we make some progress.
Check out my sneak peek of the other Better Homes and Gardens home décor offerings available this fall and winter at Walmart and Walmart.com. The fall décor will be available at the end of this month, and I want one of nearly everything.
