Moody Floral French Inspired Baby Girl Nursery

Sharing is caring!

I am soooo excited to show you all our baby girl’s nursery today! Our sweet Lorelai should be making her big debut in February 2024, but I am at high-risk for pre-term labor, so who knows at this point.

At the time of publishing, I’m very nearly 33 weeks pregnant and oh-so-very exhausted, but absolutely thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl to our world. She is already loved beyond measure, and Daniel and I could not be more grateful for this blessing for our family.

My High-Risk Pregnancy + Thank You’s

I know you’re here to see pretty pictures and all that, but I want to thank a few people and a few brands who helped make this nursery reveal possible.

On August 31 at just 14 weeks pregnant, I was very suddenly laid off from a job I had ONLY been at for six months. Talk about devastating. Don’t even get me started on the costs of COBRA and how hard it is to find a job in this market, much less finding a job while pregnant. (Spoiler alert: still unemployed!)

I wasn’t able to wallow about not having a job very long because at our 20-week anatomy scan, I found out I had an incompetent cervix and we were at high-risk of losing our daughter. A week later, an emergency cerclage was put into place via surgery, and I went on bed rest for about 3-4 weeks to allow Lorelai to get to viability.

During this time, I was stressed about being unemployed and the mountain of medical costs/bills coming our way, and my followers really came through for me.

  • Michele generously gave us the crib and mattress we used in the nursery
  • Adri gave us a plethora of gorgeous baby girl clothes, baby bathtub, shoes and toys
  • Beth bestowed me with the cutest bows for my girl
  • The amazing artist Jan Wier gave me a canvas of my favorite artwork by her (seen above the closet door)
  • Many Instagram followers and baby shower guests bought items off our baby registry to help us

I decided to really cut back on spending for the nursery, and instead decided to thrift and DIY my way to the nursery of my dreams. I reached out to both Spoonflower (wallpaper + curtains) and Clare (paint + supplies) for some DIY supplies, and luckily both companies said yes.

Other than the items/gifts/collabs mentioned above, we paid for the items ourselves or it’s items we already had on hand.

Nursery Reveal

The nursery used to be my home office, which has gone through various changes over the years. The room itself is pretty small at about 12 x 13 feet plus a 4 x 4 walk-in closet.

The small footprint is why I decided to not incorporate a glider at this time, but I reserve the right to change my mind on that and add one later…

If you’ve followed me at all for any number of years, you all know I love French/Parisian style AND that I love moody florals. I knew I wanted to incorporate the two, but I also didn’t want a nursery that screamed THIS IS FOR A BABY.

I wanted a room that felt sophisticated, soft, bright and could grow with my daughter throughout the years.

Nursery Paint Colors

The paint and painting supplies were generously provided by Clare.

  • Wall Color: Whipped
  • Ceiling Color: Meet Cute
  • Door Color: Tricorn Black (we didn’t paint these and they are original to the house)

Nursery Changing Table

Originally, I bought this changing table + dresser and I’ve written about how much I love it! You may be wondering why I didn’t choose to use it as a changing table after all…

I had this French antique demi-lune piece that I had no other place for in our home, so I decided to embrace the extra storage AND the extra width to use it as our changing table.

Nursery Closet

In addition to tackling the nursery, which involved painting walls/ceiling AND adding a wallpaper focal point behind the crib for some contrast… I decided to wallpaper the ENTIRE closet with this GORGEOUS moody floral prepasted wallpaper from Spoonflower.

Quite a feat at 7 months pregnant, but I did it. Since I have textured walls, I had to do quite a bit of prep work, so the whole process took me about a work week. FYI: I have a lengthy DIY tutorial on how to wallpaper textured walls.

There were times I questioned why I decided to embark on this project while very, very pregnant, but the results speak for themselves. This teeny walk-in closet oozes so much style and drama.

I opted to use gold hangers to add a bit of glamour and play off the empire chandelier.

The darling little navy floral dress below is made out of the bed sheets from my bedding line at Ross, and it was gifted to me by my friend Kori and made by By Faith Boutique in Laredo. Such an amazing and thoughtful gift. After Lorelai wears it, I’m definitely going to need to get it framed as a keepsake.

Baby girl’s nursery looks beautiful! Definitely elegant and Parisian but also appropriate for a newborn. Your choices are sophisticated enough for her to enjoy her room for many years to come.
