Welp. Next week is the big reveal for the spring 2018 One Room Challenge, and I’m so not ready! I mean, I know I can pull this together- all that’s missing are those final details that really add oomph to the space. Yet I am still kind of in a panic. BUT, I do have some updates for this week and I’ll likely have one more mini-update next Monday before the big, big reveal. I thank you all so much for all your kind words and support during this crazy fun challenge.

I knew I definitely wanted something in the corner where Pee Wee’s crate used to be (he’s since been relocated to the living room area; he doesn’t seem to mind). I wanted a colorful, velvet accent chair, and I’d been eyeing this gorgeous vintage tufted armchair by The Novogratz/DHP Furniture for a long time. I just knew the chair would pack a ton of style into a small space.
They generously provided the chair to me, and I love it. I will be totally honest…I thought the chair would be a deeper/darker green, but it’s definitely a mossy/olive color. I tried to really capture the true color in my photos for those of you who are interested in the chair. I added a lumbar pillow for some support and the seat is very firm (which is something I like).
I’ve been reading a lot lately in the evenings to unwind, so I chose this elegant aged brass pharmacy reading lamp from Lamps Plus to complement the chair. I love the adjustable height and swing arm.
I moved over my blue and white chinoiserie garden stool from the living room to function as a side table. And it all looks well enough…but the walls are so bare. I have a lot going on on the accent wall, but I want the room to feel balanced on both sides, you know?
Being frugal, I wanted to use frames I already had on hand so I started to dig through closets to see which frames I hadn’t hung up yet, and I found several. Sunday afternoon I whipped up some templates to do a few mock-ups, and this is where I’m at.
And this is my inspiration via Focal Point Styling.
My husband thinks it needs more frames; I hate clutter on walls. Really large eclectic gallery walls are fun for me to look at on Instagram/Pinterest, but in my home they give me hives. My game plan is to get some of the heavy duty Command strips for larger/heavier frames (these hold up to 16 pound frames!) and give it a shot. If I hate it, I can take them down without much fuss.
Where I absolutely know I am hanging some art is flanking the TV stand! You can catch up here with all the DIY details from that project. A few weeks ago I came across this print from Jenny’s Print Shop, and I knew I absolutely had to have it in my master bedroom.

Problem is I wanted to turn it into a diptych of sorts, and that’s when Nations Photo Lab came to my rescue with a fun collaboration!
I used Photoshop to slice the image in half (after I paid for it), and Nations Photo Lab printed each side for me on their metal prints with stand-offs. I finally get to use some stand-offs in my home. I’m spraying painting the stand-offs gold and using a laser level to hang them this weekend. Here’s what they look like side by side. I tried to minimally edit these photos so you get a true representation of the color and gorgeous finish.
Fingers crossed this turns out as good as I am hoping, but luckily Nations Photo Lab includes a template. I can’t recommmend them enough- their products are superb and I used them all the time in my previous job because of their metallic prints. Here’s where these prints will end up:
And the other accessory that made it into the room is the Lawson leaning mirror from Holly & Martin. Right now the reflection showcases how much work I have left to do, but in about a week, it’ll be reflecting beautiful artwork. I’m also on a weight loss journey, so having a full length mirror to take pics in is a HUGE bonus.
This weekend I also finally bought some gorgeous black and white pinstripe bed sheets. They are ridiculously soft and I can’t wait to put them on the bed. I’m doing the bedding last because of Pee Wee, and so I can iron it all so it’s blog worthy.
The duvet cover is also very hotel chic. This room is going to be one I don’t want to leave!
I’ll do an update on Monday, May 7 before the big reveal on Wednesday, May 9 with the details from the gallery wall. I feel that deserves it’s own post. I’m done with blog posting for this week though so I can focus on finishing up the room. You can always catch me on Instagram (I share stories most days!)
Check out the week 5 updates here– thanks to One Room Challenge and House Beautiful for hosting this challenge.
So for now…help a girl out with my gallery wall problem. 🙂 Should I maybe place the Flora metal prints above the chair and do a gallery wall around the TV? So many decisions…

Monica your chair is so pretty, love that mossy color it turned out to be! I think the metal Jennys Print Shop prints would look great grouped with the TV as a threesome. Why don't you hang your pieces for the gallery wall on the wall next to your window (slider?) to the left of the chair first, and see how it feels without anything on the other corner – then tape back up your templates and see how that feels with the TV grouping. I'm with you on visual clutter, but think you have such a great eye for design and once you start hanging things you'll get a feel for how much is enough! Good luck pulling it all together on this last week!!

I love your inspiration idea for the corner wall decor by the chair. I'm not sure I would do a gallery around the tv, but then it could look amazing too. Maybe try your new prints in both places and see what works best for YOU.
