Hi everyone! I got the biggest project for my New Year, New Room Refresh done over the weekend. It felt good to knock out such a major project that I was nervous about.
If you want to read about the design plan, see my week 1 post.
Here’s the vision:
Putting up the floral wall mural from Walls Need Love was fairly easy, but I had a large wall, so it did take me about 10 minutes per panel or about 90 minutes total to get it on the wall. Daniel helped me move the bed to get the panels up, which meant I accidentally blocked the closet where my camera was…so iPhone photos it is.
Here’s the before:
Here’s with one panel up:
And here’s a sneak peek of the space once I was able to get my nice camera out.
I was really nervous about the mural because I thought I’d have to be pretty exact with the panels lining up, but they designed the panels to give you plenty of space to overlap to match it up, so it was easy. The walls in the apartment are textured, and with super bright light you can see the texture in some of the lighter areas of the mural, but overall it’s a mega impact for a rental space.
We hoped to get the wall lamps installed, but that hasn’t happened just yet because we went to about 20 open houses this weekend to scope out more houses. It’s become our weekend tradition, and we have so much fun. My husband is the best.
After getting the mural up, I decided to ditch the idea of adding a gallery wall. I think it may look a bit too busy, so I’ll let the mural itself serve as the focal point and let it be.
In the next week I need to get the wall lamps up, get the area styled, place the rug once it comes in, and order the desk chair and find some curtains. I was going to ditch the curtain plan until I slept in this room the other day…SO DARN BRIGHT! There’s an outdoor patio light right there that we have no control over and it stays on all night long. Let’s just say I didn’t get a good night sleep…
