Happy Monday, y’all! We went and checked out the progress at our new home build site, and it’s so exciting to see it all framed out and be able to officially “walk” through our floor plan. I’ll show you all progress pics and such later this week.
Here at the apartment, I changed up the master bedroom a bit for summer. We still had our heavy comforter and warmer sheets, and now that the temps are regularly in the three digit range here, it was time to switch to cooler sheets and a more relaxed, glam vibe.
My go to for sheets is the Better Homes and Gardens line available at Walmart and Walmart.com. As part of my partnership with them, I get to freshen up spaces around my home with their fabulous and affordable products. Affiliate links are used in this post.
Sometimes I’m amazed at what a few small changes can do to the look and feel of a space. My master bedroom summer makeover is comprised of several small changes that led to a big impact in the space. A room makeover or refresh doesn’t always have to mean painting walls and buying new furniture…it can be as simple as new pillows, bedding, lighting and decor.
My main objective for this space was to get a new plush mattress pad (which makes our bed a bit more comfy), luxurious sheets and to replace the bedskirt we tore during the move. No one likes looking at bare boxsprings.
I chose the 300-thread count wrinkle free sateen sheets in the vignette floral pattern and the chain stitch loop bedskirt in white. The bedskirt lay beautifully after a quick steam.
The sheets wash beautifully, and so far we’ve experienced no pilling or fading. Minor stains have come right out and Pee Wee’s dog hair blends in. He loves to lounge on here.
Because of my knee injury, I have to spend quite a bit of time in bed keeping it elevated most weekends, so I splurged on some extra euro pillows and shams in a gorgeous gray.
They’re great for propping myself in bed to work on the blog, read or watch Netflix. I also use Daniel’s pillow as a laptop holder when he’s not around. Shhh, don’t tell him.
When I was shopping at Walmart, I couldn’t help but browse through the home decor section, which includes lamps and mirrors. I instantly fell in love with the glass stacked lamp with gold base AND this stunning beveled mirror. They only had one of each, and they’re in-store only items, so I’m on the prowl for an additional one of each because they are GORGEOUS you guys.
I feel like I’m staying at a swanky hotel. My husband came home after I had this all set-up and said, “Why didn’t I get a new lamp and mirror?” and he never really cares too much about those sorts of things, so you know he’s impressed if he says something.
This mirror, if I can’t find another one, may end up being the bathroom mirror in the half bath at the new house. It’s the perfect size and so well made. And it’s under $30. You can’t beat that price. It can be hung vertically or horizontal, or you can lean it like I did.
We’re totally loving our laid back, luxe master retreat. So is this guy. This is his, “You got this all at Walmart?” face. Yup, sure did, buddy. The Better Homes and Gardens line is amazing.
I’ll be back with some house progress pics and details about the first minor snag in our house building process. It was bound to happen, right?
