I can’t even tell you all how much I love today’s Duck Tape Craft: DIY wine charms! The little bows, tiny crystals and the holiday season make my heart pitter patter with delight.
I had a few ideas for how to use these fun Christmas colored tapes, and I was trying to think of something that I felt would be both useful and pretty for the holiday season.
Hence, the wine charm idea! The mini bows are fun, dainty and help guests keep track of their drink at a holiday party.
Let’s dive in to this simple and easy Christmas craft idea using Duck Tape.
- Duck Tape in four (or more!) colors of your choosing
- Small 25mm Split Rings (2 needed per charm)
- Faceted Acrylic/Glass Beads with Holes on Both Ends (for connecting to split rings)
- Craft Mat
- Sharp Craft Knife
Step 1: Cut 4″ strips of tape in each color. You’ll need a 4″ strip for each wine charm.
Step 2: On your craft mat (or protected work surface) use a sharp craft knife and ruler to score/cut the tape down to 3″ lengths.
Step 3: You will be left with thin little remnants or scraps of tape. Use your ruler and craft knife to cut them into small, thin strips. You will use these during the assembly process. The width doesn’t matter.
Step 4: Take your 3″ pieces of tape and fold the width (long end) in a third of the way as seen below.
Step 5: Take the ends and fold them in to create a loop. Use a scrap piece of tape of the same color to secure the loop in place.
Step 6: Gently pinch the center to create a pleated bow look and use a scrap piece of tape in the same color to hold it together.
Step 7: Connect your glass beads to a split ring on each end. Attach one of the split rings to your mini bow using a small piece of tape wrapped around the ring wire and around the bow.
You can use the same color or a coordinating color- it’s up to you! Each charm should be unique.
Gently pull apart the other split ring to make it easy for guests to attach to their glass stem.
This is such a simple, easy holiday decor craft idea that is perfect for soirees! These would also be so fun for a bachelorette party or bridal shower.
You could also make lots of sets of these to give as inexpensive stocking stuffers or hostess gifts. Omit the split rings and you can scale up the measurements to make bows for gifts or hair bows, too.
And here’s a bonus craft idea using Duck Tape. Cut strips of tape, place onto wax or parchment paper.
Cut each piece of tape down to size leaving a tiny border of the wax paper. Use a craft punch to cut decorative “stickers” or gift tags- simply remove the paper backing and adhere. (This is why leaving a tiny border is helpful!)
You can also write on the tape or simply use as fun stickers!
With Christmas around the corner, I hope this DIY Duck Tape craft idea helps spur your creativity. With Color Duck Tape®, you’re bound to find the perfect, fun tape for your project. Happy crafting!
