I finally was able to spend sometime doing what I love…decorate! The living room is decorated in my favorite color palette of the moment: black, white & gold! I didn’t want anything super traditional. This holiday decor is really me, and it makes me so happy! I’ll shut up now and show you all WAY too many photos.
There’s a lot of super simple DIY’s included in my decor, so I’ll give you details along the way. I invested a lot of time in effort into the projects, decor, and photos, so I ask that if you like this post, please pin it on Pinterest and share on your social media channels. It makes me happy when my content gets shared. 🙂
The Mantle
Garland was $4 from Target (I love it!)
The stockings above are from Dollar Tree (circa 2011). I added striped ribbon, bows and mini chalkboards for a custom look.
The “art” on the mantle is made from canvases I bought super cheap from Michael’s. The gold dot art pieces were made with sheets of gold cardstock and a 1” hole punch + Glue Dots. The black & white art piece is made from wrapping paper from Michael’s and a faux taxidermy ornament from Walmart.
The candlesticks are a bit hard to photograph, so I moved them away from the mantle to get a better pic. The candlesticks are from Dollar Tree and to make them swanky I added gold metallic stripes using Scotch Expressions Tape that I bought at Target for about $4 a roll (a steal…it comes with 25 yards!)
The Bar Cart
Our living room is where we spend a LOT of time during the holidays, so I’m finally putting my Target bar cart to good use this holiday season.
The metallic gold polka dot glassware is from Home Goods, as are the ice buckets and gorgeous faux taxidermy.
The Christmas Tree
I love my Christmas tree! I avidly chose to stay away from silver in favor of white accents, and I am so happy I did. There are a few disco ball ornaments that help bounce light around, but other than that it stays true to the color palette. Flowers and large stars from Dollar Tree add a bit of flair.
I snagged the Jason Wu ornaments back when Neiman Marcus and Target partnered together in 2012, and I am THRILLED I bought 2 sets on clearance. Isn’t the ornament below gorgeous? It probably weighs about a pound, no joke.
Tree topper is from the Martha Stewart Collection at The Home Depot.
Other Details
My favorite thing to do with leftover ornaments is to stick them inside an apothecary jar—so easy!
I lusted after this Pottery Barn pillow cover last year and it sold out. I snagged it this year and am SO. IN. LOVE.
This clearance monogrammed tray from Kirkland’s is great for drinks or for a candle inside a vase:
We got a pair of recliners from Home Decorators Collection, and they were the best investment we’ve made recently. A luxe blanket from Home Goods and a pillow from Target make this a great spot to snuggle up and watch TV. My ultimate goal with any decor I put in my house is to create an elegant, beautiful, but COMFY place to lounge—as evidenced below.
The Pooch
You all know how much I adore my dog, and he loves to pose for you all, so here are Pee Wee’s 2014 holiday pics. Yes, he’s a boy dog…I couldn’t resist adding some sparkle. (I’m a bad fur mom!)
Hope you all enjoyed my 2014 living room holiday tour! I’ll put the finishes touching on my dining room and will hopefully have that up early next week. For now, enjoy the pics above. If you have any questions on sources for decor, etc., please leave them in the comments and I will respond. 🙂
Have you put up your holiday decorations yet?
