I really am trying to get myself into a zen like state by relaxing more since I’m going through a lot personally right now. Life
gets overwhelming sometimes, and I tend to retreat offline and onto the couch
to cuddle with my boys and watch entirely too much TV. It’s fun to escape
mentally sometimes since I can’t physically escape to Paris or something
anytime soon.
Another thing I like to do to escape the chaos in my head is
to get outside and enjoy the sunshine! Living by the gulf means there’s
plentiful sunshine and breezy days, but since we’ve moved to the apartment, I’m
not outside as much as I’d like. I really miss our huge acre of land and
gorgeous backyard from our former Beeville home, and while we did bring some
outdoor furniture to enjoy our (fairly large 6×15) apartment patio, we haven’t
actually spent anytime out here.
And to make matters worse, I packed up all of our outdoor
pillows and put them into storage… #fail I guess I kind of had to splurge on some new stuff, right?

It looked kind of sad with just a sofa and a chair, so I
wanted to take the opportunity to splurge on some new pieces from the Better Homes and Gardens line exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com. I love this
partnership because their items are so affordable and totally my style. My goal
was to make our patio furniture have a bit of personality, plus make the space
overall more useful for catching sunsets, enjoying a bottle of wine in the
evenings, or cuddling up with a good book on a lazy Sunday.
One of the challenges in the space was that we needed a
place to put food/drinks, so I decided to buy the gorgeous farmhouse mosaic side table. It’s large enough to function as a mini dining table for al fresco
dining with my Better Homes and Gardens melamine plates and bowls, but it is
also great as a side table. Super versatile!
I absolutely love the tile mosaic top– it can totally be
styled in farmhouse way OR you can go for girly glam as I tend to do with lots
of florals and candles. I use citronella candles to keep pesky bugs away.
The chair was also begging for some pattern and a more comfortable cushion (it has a deep seat), so when I saw
this deep seat outdoor pillow/cushion in my most fave black and white stripe color scheme,
I knew I had to have it. Well, truthfully I bought two for the other side chair that’s in storage.
The cushion is perfect for sinking into the chair for an
evening outdoors. AND it is reversible if I want to change up the look in a pinch. But seriously- it’s so cozy!
For the sofa, a pair of coordinating gray leaf lumbar pillows add form
and function to the space. I love the pattern, and overall it’s not all too matchy.
Now this space is ready to welcome some friends and family,
or me and Pee Wee once we have had enough of Netflix. I need to load up my
Kindle with a good book and enjoy this new space– do you have any book
suggestions?
No matter your space constraints, it’s always easy to make
it stylish and functional by using pillows, throws, dinnerware and accent
furniture pieces like side tables. We can easily fit another two people out here, so I love how we have more living space by improving our outdoor spaces.
