Thanks to a partnership with Bona, I was given a very needed kick in the rear to break out the holiday decor. Today I’ll be providing you with three DIY decor/craft ideas that will add a custom, festive, chic look to your holiday decor in under 10 minutes per project, plus it’s also a sneak peek as to what I’ve been working on the past week or so. Think of this as a mini-holiday bootcamp. Plus, I’ll also tell you about the awesome Bona Hardwood Floor Mop that will make cleaning your hardwood floors so easy this holiday season. Hope you enjoy these BonaFide Holiday Tips!
DIY Idea #1: Upcycle Ornaments with Washi Tape
I love decorating my dining room, and ever since I snagged a white Christmas tree on clearance last year, I’ve been looking forward to decking it out for the Christmas holiday. To save money, I decided to reuse some plain ornaments I bought. They looked a little plain for my glam tree, so I used some decorative washi tape to class them up a bit. The great thing about using decorative tape is that it’s NOT permanent, so you can easily switch up the look from year-to-year.
DIY Idea #2: Create “Custom” Stockings with Ribbon & Glue Dots
I’ve had these simple white dollar store stockings since 2011, and I was so tempted to buy new stockings this year for my black/white/gold Kate Spade inspired decor theme. To save money, I used some ribbon remnants I had on hand and some Glue Dots to add a festive touch to the stocking cuff. Some simple chalkboard placecards serve as nametags for the stockings, and a simple bow adds a bit of sparkle.
DIY Idea #3: Flowers on Trees
We all love ornaments and snowflakes, but this year I added some gorgeous faux florals. I bought some $1 bunches of flowers and using my heavy duty scissors (thick enough to cut a wire) I cut them down to individual stems and placed them on my tree. The contrast between round, shiny, glittery ornaments and velvety flowers adds depth and texture to my holiday tree.
With all of the decor I use in the various rooms of my house, I get glitter and dust ALL over my dark hardwood floors that show every little bit of dust. Luckily, using the Bona Hardwood Floor Mop makes clean up a snap. The mop has a built-in container and spray handle so you can easily spray, mop, and move on with your day. It leaves no residue, it’s non-toxic, and GREENGUARD certified.
As you can tell, my holiday decor isn’t the only thing sparkling this holiday season because now my floors are (and will continue to be) sparkling clean, too. The mop is also easy to maneuver into tight corners as you can see below. If you have hardwood floors in your home, you need this Bona Hardwood Floor Mop. You can find it at most major retailers, and you can also save $3 by printing a coupon online by heading to the Bona website.
To help get one of you in the holiday spirit, I’m giving away a $50 Amazon gift card that you can use to buy a Bona mop! You can enter using the widget below and by leaving a comment that answers this question:
How would a Bona mop help YOU keep your home clean and inviting for the holidays?
Good luck! Contest ends on December 8 at 11:59 PM CST. To see the full reveal of all my holiday decor, come back later this week! I can’t wait to show you all! 🙂
