It’s reveal day! I pulled out all the stops for this reveal- I swiffered the floors and vacuumed to avoid having to Photoshop out all of the dog hair that inevitably ends up on our floors (and clothes, linens and every other surface imaginable). You’re welcome, friends. #icleanedforyou
I’d love to thank and recognize Erin from Lemons, Lavender and Laundry, the lovely creative mastermind behind this challenge, for inspiring me to tackle a space in my new apartment. It likely would have stayed a dumping ground for junk, and now I have a stylish dining space.
Need to catch up on the progression of this space? Read about week 1, week 2 or week 3 here.
Let’s take it back to where it all began. The beige dumping ground.
And let’s look at it now.
And from another angle.
IN. LOVE. Smitten. Butterflies. Swoon worthy!
Let’s take it all in now with details. As you all can see, I didn’t splurge on real florals. Whomp whomp. They were pricey at the grocery store, and truthfully, I’m trying to not spend money unless absolutely necessary so faux florals for the win.
My beloved spotted plates from H&M came in, and they are every bit as beautiful as I thought they would be. Totally worth the $6.99 each.
They look gorgeous layered with anything. How great would these look with some funky floral dinner plates or colorful stoneware?
My large leopard pillow from Ballard Designs is the perfect size for the little loveseat bench.
Ultimately, I decided against curtains, but I did figure out a way to completely open those blinds, so now I have a way to let in lots of light when I want.
In small spaces that are adjoined to other spaces, an area rug can help create a “defined” space where one doesn’t exist. Now I feel like I have a living room AND a dining room.
Initially I wanted to do a huge floral wall art gallery, but after seeing how much was going on with the wallpaper and the rug, I decided to tone it back and opted for a gold starburst mirror instead. Sometimes good design entails the exercise of restraint.
And some more beauty shots. I used the lid of the candle as a coaster for the Perrier. A simple centerpiece sometimes has to be small and useful.
I touched on this a few days ago, but it has really been hard to transition back to an apartment after living in a house for six years, but doing small projects like this really help me. It’s a fun challenge, and I know there are millions and millions of people who rent or live in temporary housing. I hope these posts inspire you a bit no matter what your current living situation is.
The grand total I spent was $30.27 on the set of 4 plates from H&M. This was all stuff I already had on hand. So, before you go buying new things, dig around your cabinets and closets to see if there are any items you could give new life to or repurpose.

Wow! What an eye catching room (corner!). I really love the pop of colour the rug gives to the space. The tablescape is so pretty too! Still swooning over the removable wall paper!
